ANTICA BRUSSELS

Fine Art Fair - ANTICA BRUSSELS

18 – 21 April 2024

Frédérick Mouraux Gallery presents the recent bronze works by Belgian artist Bob Verschueren at ANTICA BRUSSELS FINE ART FAIR.

In 2023, the internationally-renowned Belgian artist exhibited simultaneously in two Belgian venues: an exhibition at the Abbaye de Villers-La-Ville, and a solo show at Frédérick Mouraux Gallery in Brussels.

Plants provide Bob Verschueren with an inexhaustible source of inspiration, accepting their inevitable transformations. "Looking at Nature and marvelling at it..."

For over forty years, Bob Verschueren has been developing a close relationship with nature in his work, with more than 380 installations in Europe and around the world. With his installations, both inside and outside exhibition spaces, he reflects on the inextricable link between life and death, and on the sometimes conflicting, often contradictory ties between man and nature.

His ephemeral installations of elements taken from nature engage in a dialogue with the chosen site: its shape, appearance and metaphorical force combine with geometric rigor.

Among these fields of investigation, "Miniatures végétales" hold an important place. These are small sculptures made from a leaf or a twig, which he transforms in a few gestures into creations that are, admittedly, very ephemeral - the time it takes for the leaf to shrivel - and which he then photographs.
